Shovel blade (scoop) is made of aluminum and is made slightly shorter (see specs below) to make sure it fits inside any backpack.
The shovel handle is a T-grip style and the shaft is telescoping. And just like all Ortovox shovels the Beast also features a sanded section on its shaft for a better overall grip.
