Use(r) suitability
The Kodiak will be appreciated by mountain professionals as much as other heavy user groups like snowmobilers or kick builders. It is made for strong man. The Kodiak is truly a versatile tool – it allows you to attached the handle in 90 degree angle to create a hatchet.
Product description
Ortovox Kodiak snow shovel is made to last even after couple of seasons of heavy abuse. And as the name suggests, it is very strong and stiff.
Kodiak’s blade cuts easily through any snow and crusts thanks to its claw-like design of the blade’s front edge.
Its oval shaft with sanded grip stripe and a D-grip style handle make it easy to balance the shovel even with heavy loads, but of course, only if you can handle the weight yourself.
Two additional features make this snow shovel stand out. Sometimes it’s more convenient to pull large amounts of snow instead of shoveling. With Kodiak just attach the handle in a 90 degree angle and you have a large volume hoe, or a hatchet if you prefer that term.
The second feature is almost unnoticeable. There are subtle “wrinkled” steps atop both sides of the blade that make for great grip if you prefer to shovel by stepping on the blade with your shoes.
