Bottom line
Ortovox Pro Alu II snow shovel is one of the most popular and trusted tools among avid backcountry users and professionals. Very high overall stiffness and smart design with an oval shaft lets you cut through anything. It will last you for years even if digging snow pits every day.
Use(r) suitability
The Pro Alu II shovel is made for those that travel backcountry often and in any conditions. Such a rigid snow shovel might be unnecessary for folks that live in light-powder regions or those that don’t dig much at all – such as snow pits, kickers, stability tests, caves, etc.
Product description
Ortovox Professional Alu II snow shovel improved upon its first generation. Oval shaft makes for better handling and sanded grip coating provides a great grip. And as the name suggests the shovel is made of aluminum.
Shovel blade has sharp edges and the overall stiffness of the aluminum is even improved with clever metal bended lines that run in various directions.
Shovel handle is a T-grip style and allows to hook up the blade to one of its ends thus creating a hoe-like tool. This is very convenient for pulling large amounts of snow.
If you want a shovel that lasts and can cut through any snow or crusts then Pro Alu is the perfect tool. If looking for the same rigidity but even bigger snow shovel then check out Ortovox Kodiak, Grizzly, and Beast shovels.
For a lighter version of the Pro Alu check out the Ortovox Cougar shovel that features a different blade.
